Beached Wood

Missing Things is a photo taken outside of Kalaloch lodge located in Olympic National Park. It was mid-morning, springtime on a lovely crisp sunny day. My family went out on a hike seeking to find a famous tree of life at Ruby beach, and these beautiful logs caught my eye.

I took the photo as I was sitting on this huge log that seemed to have washed onto the shore years ago and was surrounded by a graveyard of lost branches and other trees. They almost looked like a maze of broken logs, with paths leading to different places on the beach, like an entire forest, washed up from the ocean floor.
